Stepping for Taika and For people living with cerebral palsy.
November 7, 2022 our lives changed forever.
After a routine brain ultrasound, it was discovered that our beautiful boy Taika had periventricular leukomalacia (PVL). PVL is a brain injury that primarily affects premature infants, resulting in damage to the white matter around the ventricles of the brain. This condition is often caused by a lack of blood flow or oxygen to the developing brain. PVL is commonly associated with the development of cerebral palsy, which later led to your official CP diagnosis.
In September, we will be walking 10,000 steps a day to raise awareness for cerebral palsy and join the inclusivity movement with Steptember. Every dollar raised will be dedicated to helping individuals like Taika live their best lives, while supporting essential research for early detection and identifying babies at risk.
Taika, my resilient, strong, and beautiful son, know that I'll always be there, cheering you on through every accomplishment and standing strong beside you through every challenge. I will forever have your back and forever be your biggest fan.
