YOUR STEPTEMBER MILESTONES

You've STEPped up to make a life-changing impact for children and adults living with cerebral palsy – go YOU!

It’s estimated 1 in 6 Australians have a disability, and every 20 hours, an Australian child is born with cerebral palsy.

From early intervention for babies, life-changing technology and equipment, or ground-breaking research, by participating in STEPtember you’re improving the lives and futures of people with cerebral palsy.

You've made a big commitment and we are so proud of you for taking on the challenge and moving  every day, your way this September.

Over the month our participants will take an average of 300,000 steps. Your goal may be a little more or a little less, either way we wanted to give you a way to mark your milestone achievements across the month.

We've put together a series of milestone markers to help you visualise your achievements. Starting at 10,000 steps, you will get a notification on the app or an SMS each time you reach a significant STEPping milestone to celebrate your efforts.

There are 10 milestones in your journey you can explore below. Remember to jump on your resources page and share a social post for each one of your achievements.

STEPtember Milestones

10,000 steps equals getting your groove on and dancing for an hour! But it also means so much more than that – it’s 10,000 steps that you took with purpose, in support of the approx. 34,000 Australians living with cerebral palsy.

50,000 steps is the equivalent of reaching the summit of Mt Kosciusko and back, twice! Whether you completed this in a day or in a week, you’ve just summited the highest mountain in Australia (twice)!

100,000 steps equals playing tennis for 6 hours! At this point you might feel a little tired…don’t slow down now, dig deep and aim for your next milestone – you’ve got this!

150,000 steps is the equivalent of 10 whole laps around the base of Uluru! Congrats for lapping this cherished Australian landmark 10 times! This insane amount of STEPs is huge, so be sure to stretch and rest if you need it.

200,000 steps equals an entire day of playing with your dog, non-stop! Not a bad way to spend a day, if you ask us! Nothing like running around with your four-legged friend to boost your endorphins.

250,000 steps is the same as swimming the length of the Bass Strait – that’s 199km! At this point you would have swum the Bass Strait, without even having to touch the freezing cold water – what a win!

300,000 steps = walking/wheeling the Great Ocean Road – that’s 243kms! Take a step back (pun intended ?) to take in what you’ve achieved. At this point you would have completed 10,000 steps for 30 days!

500,000 steps is the same as mountain biking or race running for 41 hours! By this point you would have really taken it to the next level – go YOU!

1,000,000 steps = kayaking the length of the Fitzroy River – that’s 400kms! Wowzers, that’s a lot of KMs…you are on fire!

1,200,000 steps is the same as walking from Sydney to Melbourne! Only a special few hit this milestone – we hope you are as proud of yourself as we are of you!

No matter what milestone you reach please know that we appreciate every step you take and dollar you raise for children and adults living with cerebral palsy!

Thank you on behalf of the entire STEPtember team.
