I'm taking on Steptember for babies like Stella
Just over 10 years ago, my daughter Stella was born. To our shock she was not breathing. And while the incredible doctors were able to resuscitate her, they were extremely concerned about her future because of the amount of time it took to get her breathing. We were told she may not make it.
Stella was whisked away to the intensive care unit and put on a cooling blanket to prevent damage to her brain.

After three days we could hold her. But our joy was short-lived when she began to have frequent seizures.
Once the anti-seizure medication began to work, our next hope was that she could come off the tube feeding and we could think about taking her home. Which we did - two weeks later.
It was at this point we met her pediatrician, who referred us to Cerebral Palsy Alliance.
This changed everything. We felt like we had a community of support and whatever happened, we were in the best possible hands.
At three months she was reviewed at the hospital for the general movements assessment, to understand her likelihood of cerebral palsy. It was determined that she did need further support, and she commenced early intervention therapy with her amazing CPA physio Prue.
At 12 months old, she was signed out of the therapy program.
I have no doubt that the cooling blanket support (a result of CPA research) and CPA's early intervention therapy provided Stella with the best possible start to her life.
My wish is that other families can receive this truly life-changing support from Cerebral Palsy Alliance. Your fundraising support will make this possible.
Please donate now to my Steptember fundraiser to raise funds so that more babies can receive changing therapy - just like Stella!
