What does Steptember mean to me?
Tuesday 1st Sep 9 months ago I attended a specialist appointment with my then 3 year old granddaughter.The Neurologist diagnosed her with Cerebral Palsy.
Prior to this diagnosis she was already engaged with an amazing Allied Health team. But all the supports they were providing were broad, nothing was tailored to her and her specific needs.
As with any child, the first 5 years of life are the key years for development, shaping learning, health, behaviour and communication.
Not all families have the means and village surrounding them to engage with services and/or supports for their children.
