Steptember 26

I'm taking on Steptember! Will you please show your support?

I am stepping up this Steptember because I was inspired by my little mate, Mackenzie.

During birth and shortly after, Mackenzie experienced significant bleeding on both sides of her brain. As a result of this Mackenzie suffered from seizures and developed hydrocephalus (fluid build up putting harmful pressure on the brain) and had to undergo 3 surgeries within four weeks, where a ventriculoperitoneal shunt was eventually placed in her head. Mackenzie spent the first three months of her life in hospital.

As a result of the brain bleeds leading to developmental delays, Mackenzie has been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. She has been doing regular physio, occupational and speech therapy since discharge from hospital, and along with her early CP diagnosis she is reaching milestones she was never expected to meet. This shows how crucial access to early intervention therapy is and continued research.

This September my friend Cait and I will walk at least 10,000 steps each day to raise money for the Cerebral Palsy Alliance so research and early intervention therapies can continue to help babies like Mackenzie reach their full potential.

Thank you for your support and encouragement, and please feel free to join us in walking for all babies and young children diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy.
