I’m doing STEPtember for Cerebral Palsy for someone very close to my heart — my beautiful identical twin granddaughters. They came into this world far too early at just 26 weeks and spent 100 days fighting their way through the NICU. Watching my son and daughter-in-law go through those incredibly frightening and uncertain days was heartbreaking, and then came the news no parent or grandparent ever wants to hear: one of these beautiful little girls had cerebral palsy. Our beautiful , beloved Penelope 🩷There is no one to blame. It wasn’t anyone’s fault — sometimes life takes an unexpected path, and you simply learn to navigate it together. I’m doing STEPtember because I want to raise as much money as I possibly can, not only to support my beautiful granddaughter as I watch her face the challenges ahead and navigate her own journey, but also to help other children and families living with cerebral palsy. Organisations that support these families are incredibly important, because behind every diagnosis is a child, parents, grandparents, siblings and a whole family learning a new way of life. None of us know what tomorrow holds or what our own story might bring. If by taking some extra steps this September I can help make someone else’s journey a little easier, then every step is worth it. 🩷🩷🙏🏼🙏🏼
