Steptember: More then Steps
This Steptember feels a little more personal for me this year.
I’ve had the absolute privilege of spending some time with a wonderful little girl named Mila. Her story is not mine to tell, but I can tell you that this phenomenally inspiring 8 (almost 9!) year old has completely changed the way I think about movement, goals and what’s possible.
Mila and I have made a plan — we’re getting her to the 2032 Brisbane Paralympic Games for gymnastics.
Despite spending a lot of her time in her wheelchair or walker, Mila still manages to keep me on my toes. She shows me time and time again that nothing has, nor will it ever, stop her from reaching her goals.
For me, that’s what Steptember is really about. Movement might look different for everyone, but that doesn't make it any less meaningful. It's about celebrating what we can do, setting goals that excite us, and not letting perceived limitations decide what's possible.
Mila has some pretty big dreams — and I have no doubt she's going to keep surprising everyone along the way.
So, 2032… we’ll see you there!
