I'm taking on Steptember! Will you please show your support?
Hi! In 2026, I'm participating in Steptember to help raise much needed funds for babies and children with cerebral palsy.
My journey with Cerebral Pasly started back in the 80's when my beautiful sister Alice arrived in the world - 11 weeks early and weighing just under one kilogram.
Despite her eagerness, her early arrival resulted in the onset of cerebral palsy. Her early years were filled with questions and fears - 6 weeks in a humidicrib, 6 more weeks in hospital, too many doctors visits to count, and missed milestones. Suffice it to say, the first 1000 days were challenging for mum and dad, and presumably for me.
And yet, when I looked to Alice, I simply saw a shining light. She was my normal - the person who laughed at our jokes, the person who held my hand on long family car trips, the person who jumped and jived to music (even if it meant I was the one jumping and jiving!).
The loss of Alice at the age of 23 was a heartbreak I've never really known how to live with. 15 years later, and my heart remains broken that she's no longer here. I step in memory of her bright shining light, and in recognition that the world was a better place for her being in it.
As life may have it, cerebral palsy is never that far away. I am blessed to also walk proudly for my niece Zoey, for her great many successes and for her struggles, and for (when it comes to me being her aunt anyway) a life that is increasingly being measured by being taller than me!!!!!!!!!!
I'd adore your support in helping me to honour Alice's memory, to walk for Zo, and to help improve the lives of kids with cp!
Please donate now to my Steptember fundraiser.
